Description
From the darkness within comes the sound of Cradle Of Filth. A band who have shocked, disgusted and delighted from the release of their first album, in 1994. Cradle Of Filth are the biggest Black Metal band in the world, having sold over one million units of their four previous albums and two EPs. Their latest offering, 'Damnation And A Day' was co-produced and engineered by
Doug Cook and mixed by Scrap 60 Productions (Anthrax, 36 Crazyfists, Dry Kill Logic). The band also enlisted Daniel Presley (a distant cousin of the King himself) to score the live orchestra parts which were recorded by the Hungarian 40 piece orchestra with a 32 piece choir. All of Cradle Of Filth's trademark sounds are present on DAAD; furious double bass drumming, lightning fast and technically complex guitar work, swimming keyboards and Dani Filth's totally original yet often incomprehensible vocals. However, the band have taken a more distinct heavy metal approach to the making of this record than on their previous releases, with shorter songs and more direct songwriting. Taken from the album is the lead single, Babalon AD (So Glad For The Madness) - The video for this track was directed by Wiz, (Marilyn Manson, Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis) and filmed in a derelict Jesuit seminary. The video pays homage to '120 Days Of Sodom' by the infamous Marquis De Sade. Damnation And A Day showcases Cradle Of Filth at their creative best and offers the listener an album of soaring, sonic heavy metal masterpieces.
