Description
Though from Melbourne, the Devastations have spent the past few years travelling the world & working on their new album, Coal.
Their first, self-titled album was debut album of the year in German Rolling Stone. It was also chosen by Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) in Mojo (UK) as the best release she’d heard all year.
Whilst overseas, the Devastations toured Europe with the Tindersticks; recorded the soundtrack for the German film, Sehn Sucht, with Alexander Hacke (of Einsturzende Neubauten); collaborated with Berlin electro punk icons, Cobra Killer on their new “76/77” album and co-wrote / recorded with NYC’s Liars.
This new Devastations album was recorded in Berlin (with Alexander Hacke), Prague and finished recently in Melbourne.
It's a darkly humorous and raggedly sophisticated work. The string arrangements by Padma Newsome, of renowned NYC avant-droners Clogs & Bic Runga duets on 'Man Of Fortune'.
