Clapton Chronicles: The Best Of Eric Clapton marks the first time songs from both Clapton’s own albums and from several motion picture soundtracks have been made available in a single package.
In addition to Grammy Award winning hits and favorites from his many gold and platinum Reprise CD’s, the collection highlights two new songs, the Diane Warren original “Blue Eyes Blue” featured in the film Runaway Bride and “(I) Get Lost” written by Clapton for the upcoming motion picture, The Story Of Us.
Spanning the years 1985 to 1999, among the most successful in the artist’s long career, Clapton Chronicles: The Best Of Eric Clapton features such smash hits as 1996’s “Change The World,” from the soundtrack to the film Phenomenon; the Grammy-Award winning “Tears In Heaven,” from the soundtrack to the 1992 film Rush; “Layla” and “Running On Faith,” from the multi-platinum 1992 acoustic Unplugged CD, and “My Father’s Eyes” and “River Of Tears” from Clapton’s latest release, Pilgrim.
Clapton Chronicles: The Best Of Eric Clapton also contains “Forever Man” and “She’s Waiting” from the 1985 release Behind The Sun; “It’s In The Way That You Use It,” heard on the 1986 soundtrack to the film Colour Of Money and “Pretending,” “Bad Love” and “Before You Accuse me (Take A Look At Yourself),” all from 1989’s Journeyman.
Musicians joining Clapton on these tracks range from Robert Cray and Phil Collins to Joe Sample and Chaka Khan, along with past and present Clapton band members Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Andy Fairweather-Low, Steve Ferrone, Ray Cooper and many others. The selections on Clapton Chronicles: The Best Of Eric Clapton highlight the artist’s collaborations with a wide range of top producers including Phil Collins, Tom Dowd, Russ Titelman, Simon Climie and Rob Cavallo.
