Those madcap clay modelers at Aardman are at it again in this feature length movie which has much of its base from the classic movie The Great Escape. In a typically Aardman twist, this time it is a group of chickens who are attempting the great escape from a harshly run chicken farm which has just purchased a new pie making machine. The animation is stunning and the story a charm as we get to see some of the bungled attempts as well as the huge finale. Featuring such luminaries as Mel Gibson and Miranda Richardson's distinctive vocals, and all the intricate subtleties that are so much the trademark of the Aardman team, this is a movie that appeals on all levels.
