In this hilarious comedy, Kevin Smith's trademark pair of Jersey-bred buddies are Holden McNeil (Ben Affleck) and Banky Edwards (Jason Lee), the creators of alternative comic "Bluntman and Chronic." At a comic book convention, Holden meets artist Alyssa Jones (Joey Lauren Adams). Despite their sparring, he finds her a quick-witted intellectual and is immediately attracted to her. The only hitch is she's gay. What follows is a set of conversations and situations that artfully challenge their basic assumptions about sex and love. Banky, who makes anti-gay jokes, appears to want Holden all to himself and is jealous of the new-found friendship with Alyssa, while Holden struggles to deal with Alyssa's past.
