They're the tales of Twisted, the weird and wonderful series which follows in the tradition of The Twilight Zone. Created, produced and arrated by Australian star
Bryan Brown, this is a dark anthology of short mystery films. The worlds of past, present, future and the upernatural provide the settings. Although each half-hour episode is contained, they are screened in pairs and there's a link between the two stories.
Inspired by shows such as 'The Twilight Zone' and 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents', The 3 DVD Twisted series collection promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. The series concentrates on the bizarre and comical side of life that happens next door or around the corner but never, it seems, to any of us. Featuring all 26 episodes from the original Twisted Tales series (1996) plus Two Twisted, the acclaimed Channel 9 half hour drama series of 2006.
When
Bryan Brown first had the idea for the Twisted series, he was determined that it work as an outlet for new writing talent. He invited anyone who was interested to send in a script and ended up wading through 1100 of them. "It was worth it though, because we wanted to hear from new people with interesting voices" says Brown. Among the interesting voices was a young film-maker called Gregor Jordan, who has since gone on to direct the AFI winning films 'Two Hands' and 'Ned Kelly'. See his directorial skills take shape in the episode 'The Confident Man' Episode 7 : Disc 1.
When Twisted Tales first aired in 1996, it was an enormous success, so it's no surprise that in 2006 some of Australia's best known actors were queuing to be involved in the follow up series Two Twisted. The Twisted series collection boasts a stellar cast:
Bryan Brown (Breaker Morant, Thorn Birds, Cocktail, Two Hands, Australia),
Sam Neill (Jurassic Park I, III, Mary Bryant),
