Unavailable for several years this soundtrack has been re-issued through The Necks own label Fish of Milk.

THE BOYS is considered one of the best Australian films of recent times, receiving great critical acclaim and winning numerous awards on its release in 1998.

The film’s reputation has only grown since, particularly with the release late last year of the special Filmmaker’s Edition DVD.

The Necks’ sparse, brooding score (itself nominated for several awards) suited the dark and menacing mood of the film perfectly, attracting special praise. Rolling Stone gave the soundtrack album four stars and described it as “haunting stuff…highly recommended”.

This album is more than just a simple compilation of the pieces heard in the film. The Necks continued developing the music after they’d finished the movie score to create an album in its own right.

Although it’s all unmistakeably The Necks, there’s something a quite different about this album too. Necks fans will find something unique here.
