Over their lifetime, the BEASTS OF BOURBON have delivered seven albums of excoriating low-life rock n’ roll & have carved their name indelibly in Australian folklore cementing themselves a one Of Australia’s true supergroups. In (evil) spirit they’re kin to AC/DC, THE STONES & THE BIRTHDAY PARTY; in real life their lineage encompasses the JOHNNYS, the SURREALISTS, the CRUEL SEA, the NEW CHRISTS, LOUIS TILLET, PAUL KELLY, ROWLAND HOWARD, ANDRE WILLIAMS, TEX, DON & CHARLIE and loads of other crash-&-burn blues/punk rock outfits that have littered the rock’n’roll highway over the last quarter century.
Forming in Sydney in 1983, the original Beasts lineup comprised Tex Perkins (vocals, later of the Cruel Sea), Spencer Jones (guitar, also with the Johnnys), James Baker (drums, and a Hoodoo Guru) and a pair of Scientists in guitarist Kim Salmon and bassist Boris Sudjovic. A band who have grazed their knuckles year in/year out, touring every pocket of this country & overseas. Played every major festival from HOMEBACK to the BIG DAY OUT blowing every other band off the stage, incl. a hot rock act back in ’92 called NIRVANA!
