In 1965, Bob Dylan plugged in his electric guitar and unleashed a new sound that split his audience down the middle. During the world tour that followed, the new music created controversy wherever he travelled. Some cheered, some booed, some simply walked out. Dylan blazed a trail of confrontational performances that changed rock and roll forever. The tour concluded in Europe with a series of legendary performances captured on film and tape. The Bootleg Series, Vol. 4, represents the first official release of the most famous bootleg in history, the legendary "Royal Albert Hall" concert, actually recorded in Manchester, England, on May 17, 1966. Hear it as it's never been heard before, in a fresh mix straight from the three-track master tapes. Famous for the often angry response from the crowd, this recording captures all of the stomping, booing, and even the now famous cry of "Judas" from one audience member (and Dylan's equally famous retort). This album is beautifully packaged in a slipcase, featuring two CDs with a stand alone, perfect bound, 56 page booklet. Disc one features Bob "solo acoustic" with classics like "Mr Tambourine Man" and "It's All Over Now Baby Blue". Disc two features Bob backed up by The Band (then known as The Hawks) : chronicling Bob's first (and controversial) electric tour. The "Royal Albert Hall" concert also features extensive liner notes by Dylan expert Tony Glover, many unpublished photos and digital mastering for stellar sound quality.
