A stinging black comedy on modern corporate mores from Costa-Gavras (Z, State of Siege, Missing), THE AX follows French paper-mill executive and family man Bruno Davert who loses his job when it is outsourced to Romania. Two years of unemployment later, he decides to take an inventively entrepreneurial response to finding work. He devises decisive ways to cut out the competition for jobs on offer-taking matters into his own hands, by hook or by crook, he strikes upon a murderous plan to create a job opening and eliminate any rivals. Darkly satiric and influenced by the best of classic film noir, THE AX is a merciless send-up of downsizing, outsourcing and the ethics of capitalism taken to the extreme.
