Description
At the end of 2008 and a performing career that has spanned 60 years Alfred Brendel retires from the concert platform. An extensive schedule of recitals and concerto appearances sees Brendel in many important venues and his last appearance will be in Vienna in December 2008 when he performs Mozart's Piano Concerto in E flat, K271 ‘Jeunehomme’ with the Vienna Philharmonic under the baton of one of his close musical collasborators and today's most respected and authoritative Mozartians, Sir Charles Nackerras.
This set brings to gether in a slipcase edition four 2-CD sets which were released under the banner ‘artist's choice’ and represents Alfred Brendel's personal selection of favourite recordings derived from his enormous catalogue of recordings made for Philips as well as selected live performances. The composers featured are those with whom Alfred Brendel has long been associated.
