Description
Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip are the musicians behind the 2007 song “Thou Shalt Always Kill”, which went Top 30 on the UK charts and has over 1.4 million hits on YouTube. The two-piece electro hip hop band are originally from Essex. Dan Le Sac makes original electro hip hop productions, while Scroobius Pip is a performance poet who adds politically intelligent raps.
Scroobius Pip’s unique delivery style was developed on the spoken word circuit. Fused with Dan Le Sac’s industrial and conversely elegant electro and hip–hop grooves, they have created a distinct 21st Century cocktail.
If “Thou Shalt Always Kill” provided the ‘beginner’s guide’, then this album represents the broader, deeper and ever more thrilling indictment, enthused with a wit and hubris that is entirely their own. The album opens with a typically defiant spoken word intro: ‘I ain’t gonna take it no more…’ before lurching into “Beat That My Heart Skipped”. Instantly subversive with its dry wit and immediate beats, it’s also diverse, with more mellow, reflective tracks such as “Look for the Woman”.
During 2007 they have undertaken a full UK tour, appearing at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Bestival, and have also toured with RJD2, Lethal Bizzle and Mark Ronson. In April & May of 2008 they are completing their first headlining tour of the UK, including over 20 shows. They also performed at SXSW and the Coachella festival in 2008.
