Cutting their teeth on the scene since 2003, Melbourne’s Ground Components are now stomping and screaming their way through one of the best debut albums of 2006. Singer Joe McGuigan formed the band with his brother Simon (drums), bassist Indra Adams and keyboardist Dale Packard. After a couple of EPs, they’ve played and produced the album themselves incorporating instruments as varied as sax, trumpet, accordion and flute. The album features a guest appearance from Sydney MC Macromantics, and includes two wild covers including a 10 minute version of Bob Dylan’s “It’s Alright Ma, I’m Only Bleeding”.
