On a cold, dark, and rainy night in Amityville, New York, a group of Priests gathers shivering on the sidewalk. Silently they each remove a crucifix and rosary beads from a large black bag and move towards the front door of an old, eery house. The evil presence in the house howls and screams in protest as one by one, the Priests enter room after room, chanting the prayers of exorcism…

3000 miles away and two weeks later, newly widowed Nancy Evans and her three children have just moved into the family home with her mother, Mrs. Alice Leacock. The same day, a package arrives from Mrs. Leacock’s sister in New York, a birthday present. It is a huge, ugly and vaguely sinister lamp purchased at a yard sale in…Amityville.

Almost immediately, a series of bizarre and horrific events occur in the house. A chainsaw comes to life, mysterious beings seem to appear, the housekeeper is found dead, literally scared to death, and Nancy’s youngest daughter, Jessica, believes she can talk with her father through the lamp.

Concerned about the sequence of events and her daughter’s preoccupation with knives and blood as well as her dead father, Nancy agrees to meet Father Kibbler who has flown in from Amityville. She is shocked to hear the story of the Amityville house from him. Father Kibbler believes the evil of the house transmigrated into a lamp after it was exorcised, and that the very same lamp may be the one sent unknowingly by her Aunt. They both rush back to the house and attempt to save the children just as the evil entity unleashes its most savage and brutal terror.
