Description
Willie Nelson's lonely country croon has always made even the happiest sentiments ring with a touch of sadness. Here, he covers a number of well-known songs and gives each of them his own hard-won wisdom. "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man" seems an impossible task, but Nelson gets under it and while he can't steal it from Aretha Franklin, he makes it his own all the same. Paul Simon's "Bridge over Troubled Water" is a stretch and "Whiter Shade of Pale" is questionable. However, the title track is classic Nelson, as is the somber closer, "Party's Over."
