Description
Rocket From The Crypt includes: Apollo 9 (saxophone), John Reis.
Initially issued in 1993 around the time that Rocket From the Crypt became the subject of a fierce major-label bidding war, ALL SYSTEMS GO collects many of the San Diego-based punk-influenced act's indie singles. A number of these tracks were previously unreleased or available only on vinyl, making this a very welcome compilation for fans of frontman John "Speedo" Reis, saxophone player Paul "Apollo 9" O'Beirne, and the troops. From the surging "Live the Funk" to the horn-heavy "Normal Carpet Ride" to a raucous cover of Adam & the Ants' "Press Darlings," this 19-track anthology presents RFTC in all of its restless, revved-up glory. Other highlights include "Pure Genius" and a fuzzed-out take on the Big Bopper's "Chantilly Lace," songs that nod to the ensemble's rockabilly leanings. An indispensable part of the group's catalogue, ALL SYSTEMS GO even garnered a sequel in '99, ensuring that RFTC aficionados are well stocked with singles and rarities.
