William (Bud) Abbott and Lou Costello were an American comedy duo whose work in radio, film and television made them the most popular comedy team during the 1940’s. Beginning in 1952, their half-hour television series “The Abbott and Costello Show” was loosely based on the duo’s radio series and cast them as unemployed layabouts.
