Description
In a Warsaw high-rise, a young man spies on a beautiful, promiscuous older woman in an attempt to overcome his loveless isolation. Loverlorn, and unable to endure her sexcapades through his voyeuristic lens, he clumsily declares his feelings for her before she inturn seduces him. But when she mocks his impotence, he becomes suicidal, and the women is overcome with longings for the young mans naïve romanticism.
Part of master Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski's cinematic Decalogue, Love explores the commandment "Thou shalt not commit adultery", drawing on Hitchcock's Rear Window to explore themes of isolation, loneliness and despair. Brilliantly filmed, and featuring a haunting score from Zbigniew Preisner, Kieslowki's dark, suspenseful meditation on love and desire is a European cinema classic.
