Columbia Tristar films present A Knight's Tale, a rousing romantic road movie that asks the timeless question what makes a person noble, lineage or heart? Australian born Heath Ledger stars as lowborn William Thatcher. His quest is to change his stars, win the heart of an exceedingly fair maiden and rock his medieval world. The film finds William facing the ultimate test of medieval gallantry, tournament jousting and trying to discover if he is the stuff of which legends are made. Follow this band of medieval misfits - soft hearted Roland, hot headed Wat, Kate the blacksmith and an unknown writer named Geoff Chaucer as they careen their way toward impossible glory that's part romance, part road trip, part exuberant swashbuckler with shades of "pythonesque" humour.
The music is an integral part of the film. Queen's "We Will Rock You" sets the scene for William (Heath Ledger) as he rides Jousting Lance aloft into the tournament grounds to do battle with Knights of Olde or dancing with his fair maiden to Bowies "Golden Years" and so on through this rollicking tale. The A Knight's Tale Soundtrack features fantastic tracklist that could almost be called a greatest hits package. The video of the Robbie Williams, Queen track, "We Are The Champions" is a brilliant pastiche of Stadium Rock, set in medieval times with Robbie Williams; all attitude and codpiece thrusting as groupies are thrown from the stage! Rumour has it that Robbie will perform "We Are The Champions" on his Australian concert tour complete with projected movie footage behind him on stage.
