Deepak & friends present music inspired by the love poems of Rumi.
Deepak Chopra, acclaimed Mind, Body, and Spirit Leader, presents an album inspired by the thirteenth century love poems by Jalaleddin Mohammed Balki (popularly known as Rumi). One day in 1996, Deepak met Fereydoun Kia at one of his famed courses. They soon found out they shared a mutual love for poems of Rumi, and as synchronicity will have it, a woman from the course gave a mesmerising dervish dance one day. Enraptured and inspired by the beauty of it all, Deepak recited the poem as a friend played music to her movements. Thus giving life to a new creation but retaining the essence of its source - love. Deepak has invited friends to interpret and perform poems of Rumi. Not direct translations but 'moods' that Chopra and Kai captured as certain phrases radiated from the original. This album speaks the language of love, a passionate union between Ancient Persian verse and intoxicating rhythms and chants.
