Composed throughout the four years since its acclaimed predecessor 'O,' work on '9' was completed in an intense period of activity over the last six months. '9' demonstrates the vast and diverse creative talent of Rice, who wrote, recorded and produced the record, as well as designing all of its artwork.

"(This album) is mostly accidents, that's the way it feels. But beyond any preconceived notions this has ended up being, from my point of view, a collection of songs I feel I can listen to," remarks Damien.

'9 Crimes' is the first single from his upcoming album '9'. Considered more of a duet, with long-time associate Lisa Hannigan, '9 Crimes' is a beautiful piano ballad, crammed with all the powerfully emotive goodness we've come to expect from Damien Rice.

The new album is the highly anticipated follow up to his 2003 debut, which hit the top of many critics lists at the end of the year and landed a Shortlist Prize, selling over 2 million copies worldwide in the process, including over 1 million in the UK.
