Staind's fourth studio album, 14 Shades of Grey, will feature a wide array of styles, or shades of gray, as the band didn't limit itself to one extreme or another, but rather to everything in between. 14 Shades Of Grey, features fourteen shards of sonic fury and introspective intensity, tempered by song writing well beyond of anything the band has achieved before. The album's first single 'Price To Play' is an emotionally gripping song that was the #1 most added everywhere at rock radio in the US. Other highlights on the album include 'Layne' a track that was written as a tribute to Layne Stayley of Alice In Chains.

The recording of 14 Shades of Grey was produced by Josh Abraham and mixed by Andy Wallace, both of whom did the same honours for BREAK THE CYCLE. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and Miami.

The first run of the CD includes a limited edition bonus DVD titled 'Homegrown'. It is a forty minute home movie documentary of the band's history since 1996, featuring exclusive concert video plus behind the scenes footage of the band recording their two previous albums, making videos, album lyrics, new band photos, hanging out backstage and everywhere in between.
