Description
A new concept brought to fold by tidy to promote the superb talents of its exclusively signed producers. Given total carte blanche the guys have really come up trumps and shown to the masses that they are quite simply the cream of the crop when it comes to producing music for the harder generation! First up we have a lad who has come on leaps and bounds over the last year and in that time has become a firm favourite with the likes of Lashes, Savage, Glazby, Haslam, Rob Tissera and The Tidy Boys who liked the tracks that much they put them all on their recent Tidy Boys annual. His style is very much leaning towards the techy side of hard dance combining quirky and grooving percussion mangled with solid as fu*k production. On this outing Colin delivers four belting morsels each on a different tip to the other giving you the DJ a tool for every occasion.Leading the way on Side A we have “Expect The Unexpected”. This track is a superb little groover that just doesn’t relent It has all the right ingredience for dance floor bedlam A funky as fu*k bassline, tangled with some nice woody knocks and hits to move the track along at great pace Then add the excellent vocal cuts and stabs and ladies and gentleman you have a track that you simply can’t help but dance too. In the break the track slows down in bpm where the harsh and distorted synth comes in to deliver the body blow for the finale Superb. To back it up on side A we have “F.U.N.K”. A trade mark Barratt groover yet again with a nice swinging bassline with sublime rolling percussion to give it quite a sambaish feel The F.U.N.K vocal’s are layered nicely into the breakdown with the momentum being built back up by the percussion and a subtle female vocal. A great track for those warm up sets or for when you need to add some F.U.N.K back onto the dancefloor. On The B Side we have Harderfaster leading the way A great track which has been getting noticeable support from Lee Haslam. This track oozes energy and power Still in-keeping with Colin’s trademark production touches, this synth lead monster is arguably the track on the EP. This then finally brings us to the final track on the EP and Groove Station This does exactly what it say son the tin. Slower in bpm to the rest of the tackle on this EP Groove Station is a superb warm up record, combining a nice funky guitar riff, vocal chants and distorted lead bleeps for good measure All in all a superb first EP from Colin and we hope you will be hearing more from him very soon.
